TOWERS BOOK EXCHANGE

Towers will be holding a Children’s Book Exchange on December 7th. This will be your chance to pass on books your family no longer wants to read. In return, your child will have an opportunity to choose books, from those donated by other Towers students, to take home and keep. Book collections will be from November 30th to December 7th, 8:20am-8:45am in front of the cafeteria.

Students will be allowed to “shop” for books after dismissal on December 7th from 2:05pm to 3:30pm. 4th and 5th grade students will have a designated time during school hours on December 7th to participate. In order to participate, a PERMISSION SLIP must accompany the books that the student is donating. The donated books must be suitable for children in grades K-5 and in good condition. It is not guaranteed your child will bring home the same number of books donated and/or books at his/her reading level. Once the Book Exchange is completed, all remaining books will be donated to other programs.

If you are interested in being a Parent Volunteer at the Book Exchange (December 7th), please contact Lisa Eickler, Towers Book Exchange Chair, at leickler@yahoo.com.

Amazing Attendance

In my November newsletter, I mentioned a monthly perfect attendance incentive program for students.  I would like to thank all parents for their comments in regards to this program that helped us revise it as follows.  Parents have raised some concerns in regards to our perfect attendance incentive program that it may encourage students to come to school ill.

Instead of calling this program "Perfect Attendance" it will be called "Amazing Attendance" for each month.  Students will receive 15 minutes extra recess each month if they have no unexcused absences or unexcused tardies.

An excused absence is when a parent/guardian or medical doctor writes an excused note for the absence due to illness.  Independent study, for no more than 10 days, or bereavement are also excused absences.  An excused tardy is when a medical doctor provides a tardy slip for medical appointments only.  If there are chronic excused absences, our Student Attendance Review Board (SARB) will help to support parents and students.

EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION UPDATE NEEDED

Each student's contact information will need to be verified by a parent or guardian before school begins.   You can do this online via our Parent Connect portal.   You will need your PIN and password.

If you do not remember your PIN and password, please call the Towers office.    Please do keep this information handy, as you will be using it throughout your time as a TUSD parent.
